Witnesses testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee about the security of the Panama Canal after the transfer of the canal to the Panamanian government. They focused on concerns over the leasing of some canal ports by the Panamanian government to a Hong Kong based company. They talked about concerns over the lease arrangements and the possible Chinese entrance into the workings of the canal.
