Professor Lansford presented a paper by Anne Khademian of Virginia Tech, “Homeland (In)Security,” on how congressional politics, bureaucratic politics, and technical and resource limitations pose long-term challenges to the new Department of Homeland Security. Professor Lesch talked about “The Middle East Peace Process and the War on Terrorism,” including how the transition to a second Bush administration and foreign policy decisions could affect U.S. relations in the Middle East.
