After some introductory remarks, President Clinton and members of Congress spoke about the need for a national dialogue on Social Security reform. In his remarks, the president used several charts to outline the problems facing the system and stressed his commitment to Social Security as a way to continue to support the elderly and others in need. This was the first of four meetings on Social Security reform sponsored by the Concord Coalition, the American Association of Retired Persons and the White House. close
