Former President Carter testified about U.S. energy policy and reducing dependence on foreign oil. In his testimony he made reference to his 1977 “fireside chats” on energy conservation and said that the nation’s energy challenges had not changed much, and will continue to test America’s resolve. He also spoke about the challenges of transforming U.S. energy policy and the national security risks of increased dependence on foreign sources of energy. close
