A hearing was held on balancing civil liberties with national security needs. Witnesses examined the implementation of the September 11 Commission recommendations. Members of the White House Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board and family members of victims who died on September 11, 2001 also testified. Topics included the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, Executive Branch subpoena power, and continuing terrorism threats. close
