Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge testified before the House Appropriations subcommittee on Homeland Security regarding the proposed fiscal year 2005 budget for the Department of Homeland Security. It was emphasized that, although the department had accomplished a great deal since its inception, much was left to be done. Among the specific issues addressed were the U.S. VISIT program, database integration and access, the air marshal program, passenger and cargo screening procedures, and funding for first-responders. close
