A panel spoke on the topic “What Does it Mean to be Iraqi?: The Politics of Identity in Iraq.” Among the topics they addressed were security and sectarian violence in Iraq, historic ethnic and religious divisions in the country, efforts to develop a national “Iraqi” identity to unite various groups, and regional economic, political and cultural influences on the Iraqi people.
