Kathryn Sullivan announced the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for the hurricane season outlook. The agency predicted an “above normal and possibly active 2013,” predicting 13 to 20 named storms with seven to 11 strengthening to hurricanes and three to six becoming severe. In addition, other NOAA and FEMA officials provided information regarding storm preparedness. Topics during the question and answer portion included lessons learned from Hurricane Sandy, response to the Oklahoma tornadoes, along with NOAA budget constraint issues. close
