During a White House conference on global climate change, scientists discussed the scientific evidence for global warming. They examined the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report; the cause of climate change, especially the increase in chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs); and its impact on global meteorological patterns and the environment. Following their remarks, President Bill Clinton called for sustainable energy infrastructure in developing nations. Vice President Al Gore concurred and emphasized the need for immediate action. close
