The panelists talked about pure science, science policy, the intersection between science and politics, and the role of scientific activism in local and national politics. Scientists and science journalists talked about hurricanes, global climate change, and whether creationism should be taught in the classroom. After their presentations they responded to audience members' questions. 

Chris Mooney is the author of The Republican War on Science and Storm World. Ed Brayton is a science blogger and co-founder of Michigan Citizens
for Science. Sean Carroll is a theoretical physicist.
