Authors spoke at a panel discussion titled, “State of Science Journalism.” Among the topics they addressed were advances in technology and medical sciences, challenges for journalists covering science issues, and the influence of both politics and journalism on good research and development efforts. They also answered questions from members of the audience.

Dr. Satel, a practicing psychiatrist, is the author of PC, M.D.: How Political Correctness Is Corrupting Medicine, published by Basic Books and the forthcoming book One Nation Under Therapy: Why Self-Absorption is Eroding Self-Reliance. Mr. Bailey is the editor of Global Warming and Other Eco-Myths: How the Environmental Movement Uses False Science to Scare Us to Death, published by Competitive Enterprise Institute and the forthcoming Liberation Biology: The Moral and Scientific Defense of the Biotech Revolution.
