A memorial service for the historian Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr., was held in the Great Hall at Cooper Union. He was praised as a preeminent American historian and a Renaissance man. Dignitaries, friends and family members reminisced about his life, his family, his writing career, and their love for him. He served as an adviser to President Kennedy and wrote the book, A Thousand Days.

Mr. Schlesinger, who wrote more than 20 books and won two Pulitzer Prizes, died on February 28, 2007. close
