The committee heard further testimony about sexual child predators who operate on the Internet. In the first day of a two-day hearing on making the Internet safe for children, Mr. Hansen testified about his investigative series for NBC’s “Dateline” and the sexual predators he encountered through decoys pretending to be children on the Internet. Video clips from the series were shown. Topics included the anonymity of the Internet, the statistics on the amount of child pornography on the Internet, monitoring bulletin boards and chat rooms, and informing parents of the danger of child predators. close
