Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan testified at a Senate Banking Committee hearing. Mr. Greenspan talked about the state of the U.S. economy, prospects for economic growth, consumer spending, and trends in productivity. In his testimony he said that proposals by the Bush administration to cut taxes were “premature” due to uncertainty over potential military action in Iraq. He also endorsed proposals to cut taxes on corporate dividends as a means of long-term growth.
