The Inter-American Dialogue, a think tank concerned with international affairs primarily related to the western hemisphere, with the intent to foster democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean, hosted this event. Guatemalan Foreign Affairs Minister Arturo Fajardo Maldonado spoke about his country’s recent elections and the new peace initiatives being offered by the new leaders of the country. Also discussed was the evolution of democracy in Latin America. Participants urged the U.S. to assist those countries struggling for democratic reforms in the region. close
