President Bush spoke to military officers about U.S. foreign policy goals and global efforts to combat terrorism. He warned of continuing threats of terrorism to the U.S., compared terrorist leaders to past tyrants like Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Lennin, and often quoted terrorist leaders to underscore their totalitarian ambitions. He also said that military operations in Iraq sere not a “distraction” from counterterrorism efforts, but was the “central battlefield” in efforts to combat the terrorist threat.
