On January 1, 2004 China regained the ability to increase its world textile exports due to the expiration of elements of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. U.S. Importers of Textiles and Apparel Vice-President Julia Hughes participated by telephone. The guests discussed the influence of this possible increase on the U.S. economy, as well its effect on U.S. economic relationships with other countries.
