Secretary of Health & Human Services Donna Shalala announced the formation of the National Task Force on AIDS Drug Development. The task force was designed to identify and remove any barriers to developing effective treatment for the HIV virus and its subsequent disease AIDS. Assistant Secretary Philip Lee was named chairman of the new task force. Each participant made a brief statement prior to reporters' questions for Secretary Shalala. close
