Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk talked about Russia’s intervention in Ukraine, the referendum in Crimea, and the transatlantic community’s response. Speaking at the Atlantic Council in Washington following a meeting with President Obama, the interim Prime Minister said time is running out for finding solutions to the situation in his country. Yatsenyuk also said his government is satisfied with the U.S. and European response to the Russian intervention in Crimea, and promised to implement economic reforms and hold “free and fair” presidential elections scheduled for March 25, 2014. Yatsenyuk was appointed following the ouster of Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych and his government in February 2014. Ukrainian officials have issued an arrest warrant for Yanukovich, accusing him of mass murder and theft of over $70 billion. close
