President Clinton and others discussed rural development issues, including credit availability, education and training, telecommunications infrastructure and handling natural disasters. Some emphasized self reliance with some help from the federal and state governments and how to effect change in those areas. Others discussed effects on rural Native American communities, stressing social capital, health issues with farm accidents, aging farm populations, better sewer and water treatment and investment and banking in rural areas. Questions were taken from the audience. close
