Dennis Norton, founder of the Yankee Air Museum, and Randy Hotton, the museum’s former director, talked about the history of the Willow Run Bomber Plant, and why the museum is trying to rescue this historic site. The plant was completed in 1941 and was the largest factory in the world under a single roof. Built by the Ford Motor Company, it was used to assemble B-24 Liberator Bombers during World War II. At the peak of its production, the plant produced the bomber planes at the rate of one every hour, and employed over 40,000 workers, including many women.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from October 21-25 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. close
