Political scientists participated in a forum on the role of television in the modern Senate during a research symposium. Following a video introduction showing both typical and unusual occurrences on the Senate floor, Senator Howard Baker (R-TN), a former minority and majority leader, made opening remarks and responded to the remarks of the scholars. The scholars discussed the effect of television cameras on the activities of the Senate, and the use of television by members of the Senate. Panel members responded to questions from members of the audience following their prepared remarks. close
