Panelists discussed the negative impact of corporations on the U.S. economy and society in a panel titled, “The Incorporation of America.” They stressed that capital and labor are unevenly divided and examined how labor can address this problem through advocacy for the working class and other means. This was part of a conference for labor leaders and like-minded scholars. The panelists were Brian McLaughlin, Central Labor Council President, Josh Freeman, Columbia University Associate History Professor, Ira Kratznelson, Columbia University Political Science Professor, Linda Chavez-Thompson, AFL-CIO Executive Vice President, Orlando Patterson, Harvard University Sociology Professor, Katha Pollitt, Author & Columnist, and Joel Rogers, University of Wisconsin-Madison Professor of Sociology, Law & Political Sciences. close
