Mr. Paulison briefed reporters about federal agency preparations for Hurricane Rita which had intensified to a category 5 hurricane and threatened Gulf Coast areas from Eastern Louisiana through Texas. He also talked about the potential impact to on-going responses to Hurricane Katrina which had hit the Gulf Coast weeks earlier causing massive devastation. He and Ms. Rule then responded to questions from reporters.
