Donald Vance and Rajiv Chandrasekaran were awarded Ridenhour Prizes and spoke briefly. Former President Carter was awarded The Ridenhour Courage Prize in recognition of his life-long defense of the public interest, his passion for social justice, and the courage he has displayed in speaking forthrightly on contentious and controversial subjects. He talked about some of the issues raised in his recent book, Palestine Peace Not Apartheid.

Rajiv Chandrasekaran wrote the book Imperial Life in the Emerald City for which he received the Ridenhour Book Prize. Donald Vance received the Ridenhour Truth-Telling Prize for reporting on his experiences when, serving as a security contractor in Baghdad, he was detained by U.S. forces and held without charges for more than three months in an Iraqi military prison camp.

The event was held at the National Press Club. close
