Sen. Rick Santorum discussed his book It Takes a Family: Conservatism and the Common Good, published by Intercollegiate Studies Institute. He explained his belief that the values of conservatism create an appreciation for the civic bonds that unite communities. He also argued that strengthening family ties in American society should take a higher priority over the “village” of the federal government promoted in a previous book by Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. He was interviewed by Kirk Victor, the Senate correspondent for the National Journal.
Sen. Rick Santorum is a Republican U.S. Senator representing Pennsylvania. Senator Santorum serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee; the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration; the Senate Special Committee on Aging; and the Senate Finance Committee, of which he is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Social Security and Family Policy.
