The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit heard oral argument in the case of Ricci v. Destefano. The Court would decide if city officials in New Haven, Connecticut discriminated against white firefighters by throwing out a promotions exam that no African Americans and only two Hispanics passed. The firefighters argued that city officials violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by discriminating against them because of their race. Judge Sotomayor was one of the judges in this case. This program contains a portion of the audio recording released by the court. Still images of participants were shown on the screen as they spoke.
