The American Assembly brought together 60 public policy researchers and leaders of various constituencies in America to discuss America’s security. By applying a consensus building technique to the discussion, the American Assembly determines recommendations on national issues, which it then distributes to national public policy leaders. The topic of the American Assembly held in May and June of 1991 was America’s national security at home and abroad following the end of the Cold War and the Persian Gulf War. close
