House Veterans Affairs Committee Chair Jeff Miller (R-FL) talked from Pensacola, Florida, about key issues facing veterans such as jobs, delays in benefits claims, and why officials at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) had been paid bonuses despite a claims backlog.

The VA had 882,000 compensation and disability claims pending that week, including 250,000 that are at least a year old. Chair Miller had urged VA Undersecretary Allison Hickey to resign because of the backlog. close
