Hannah Smith talked about the legal definition of religious liberty and the debates over the concept in the nation’s courts and legislatures. She also talked about the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case. Ms. SMith was a member of the Becket Fund legal team that secured a victory ithe case, where the Supreme Court held in a 5-4 opinion that family-owned businesses enjoy religious liberty rights under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. A video clip was shown of Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) on July 10, 2014, about a bill she was introducing in response to the Hobby Lobby decision. close
