Two legal scholars participated in a roundtable discussion on Supreme Court decisions handed down earlier in the week concerning the relationship between public schools and religious issues. The Supreme Court ruled, in Lamb’s Chapel et al v. Center Moriches Union Free School District et al, that school boards may not prohibit a church from showing a film on school grounds after school hours for the sole reason that the film is religious. The court also refused to hear a separate case concerning prayers performed at high school graduation ceremonies.
