Governors and state health officials discussed some of the challenges states will face if the health care reform legislation is passed. They talked about the need to be partners with the federal government to figure out the rules and regulations for implementation of any health care programs. Panelists also discussed the need for more effective communication with the public to explain what the government is doing and why and how to bring the public into the health care conversation. They also talked about the role of state governments in reining in cost for unnecessary procedures. Panelists agreed that the current delivery system must change. close
