Scott Reed talked about managing the 1996 presidential campaign of the Republican nominee, former Senator Bob Dole of Kansas. Mr. Reed recalled the campaign’s strategy, Dole’s decision to resign from the U.S. Senate to pursue the White House, and his own relationship with the candidate" which he characterizes as “almost father and son.”

These are excerpts from a never-before-aired interview in the collection of the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics at the University of Kansas. Historian Brien R. Williams conducted this interview on November 8, 2007, in Mr. Reed’s office. close
