Witnesses testified before the committee about the impact of older Americans that remain active in the workforce. They noted that the number of older Americans in the workforce has grown in recent years, in spite of the fact that federal policies and private businesses often encourage workers to retire at a younger age. They asserted that older workers are a way of alleviating labor shortages and maintaining high levels of experience among workers. The witnesses also responded to questions from the committee. close
