The Columbia Institute sponsored a forum previewing the issues to be raised in the Earth Summit in June, 1992. The Earth Summit, known officially as the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, will bring together world leaders to discuss environmental issues affecting the planet. In the panel entitled, “The Global Change Debate: The Political Ramifications,” panelists examined the effect of international treaties concerning environmental protection on lesser developed countries seeking to build their industry and economic competitiveness with limited resources.
