President Bill and Mrs. Clinton hosted a conference on raising teenagers. President Clinton opened the conference saying that he would sign an executive order banning discrimination against parents in the federal workplace and urged Congress to enact similar legislation. Mrs. Clinton then moderated panels on what today’s teens want and need, and what parents and communities can do to raise successful teens. Conferees recommended that families eat meals together, that children be given chores so that they participate in family life, and that employers treat employees with teens just as they would employees with newborns. close
