Participants discussed American attitudes about race, ethnicity and minority status, saying that these issues were often seen as dividing factors in American culture rather than one of the strengths of American society. They argued for a vision of American commonality in which people celebrated differences rather than bemoaning them. After their remarks they took questions from the audience, some of which were critical of the panel. close
