Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) talked about the impending “fiscal cliff,” the tax increases and budget cuts that will go into effect at the end of 2012 if Congress cannot reach a compromise on a budget. He said that his is willing to vote for tax increases to go along with budget cuts, putting him at odds with the majority of Republicans in Congress, who oppose any tax increase. In his remarks he said, “The country has lived the last 30 years off the next 30 years, and we all have to sacrifice...if we want the country to survive.” Senator Coburn also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
