Chris Matthews was the featured speaker at the presentation of the 25th annual Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation journalism awards. The Ford Presidential Foundation honored the winners of its annual awards, established by former President Ford, for coverage of the presidency and for coverage of national defense issues. Mr. Matthews in his comments described his experience working for former House Speaker Tip O’Neill and talked about some of the mistakes he believes President Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney have made in their campaigns thus far. After his speech, he answered written questions from the audience. close
