The National Association of Columnists held its annual meeting in Dana Indiana, in conjunction with the 50-year commemoration and dedication of the Ernie Pyle Historic Site. Ernie Pyle was born in Dana, Indiana August 3, 1900. He was a Pulitzer Prize Winning American journalist and war correspondent who is best known for his stories about ordinary American soldiers during World War II. Mr. Pyle was killed in action April 18, 1945. On hand for this dedication was Actor William Windom, Phillip Ault, World War II Correspondent, and Andy Rooney, World war II Correspondent and a friend of Ernie Pyle. close
