As part of a conference titled, “The American Prosecutor: Power, Discretion and Accountability,” the panelists talked about prosecutorial misconduct. In recent years, studies by investigative reporters at the Chicago Tribune and the Center for Public Integrity suggest that prosecutorial misconduct is a pervasive problem in the criminal justice system. Members of this panel discussed the extent of the misconduct along with specific case examples, its ramifications, and the effectiveness of existing legal remedies. After their discussion they responded to audience members' questions.
