Panelists talked about the progressive movement and the 2012 elections. Each called on progressives to mobilize, and make their voices heard in the presidential election. Van Jones said that progressives must win in November, as well as December, referencing impending tax increases and budget cuts at the end of 2012 if Congress cannot reach a new budget agreement. He also called on President Obama to veto any extension of the tax cuts made during the George W. Bush administration. They responded to questions from the audience.
