The subcommittee holds a hearing on the following bills: H.R. 3343, to amend the Consumer Product Safety Act and related laws to improve the performance of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), to authorize appropriations for that act; and H.R. 3443, to establish an Administrator for Consumer Product Safety within the Department of Health and Human Services and to transfer the functions of the Consumer Product Safety Commission to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The hearing was preceded by interviews with Representative Dennis Eckart; Terrence Scanlon, Chairman of the CPSC; and Representative William Dannemeyer. close
