The luncheon session of the 77th Winter Meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors focused on priorities for U.S. cities. David Axelrod, an incoming senior adviser to the next president, spoke about the urban priorities of the Obama administration. Dr. Ian Smith talked about obesity and the accompanying health risks. He showed a short video “Taking the ‘Challenge’ to Your City” about his 50 Million Pound Challenge. Mayor Mick Cornett presented his video “This City Is Going On a Diet!” Louie Watson talked about retirement savings. Phil Gordon talked about the need for immigration reform. close
