Jay Carney led the daily White House briefing. He told reporters, “We are late in the game,” regarding the situation in Crimea and the country’s coming referendum vote. He also updated U.S. involvement in the investigation of the missing Malaysian airliner. Education Secretary Arne Duncan opened the briefing by announcing new rules that would require career colleges to do a better job of preparing students for gainful employment, or risk losing access to taxpayer-funded federal student aid. close
