In his radio address to the nation, President Clinton reviewed the status of trade talks with Japan and talked about the effort to create better jobs for Americans. Regarding trade talks, the President advised that the United States and Japan have reached an agreement that will open up Japan’s cellular telephone market to high-technology products made here in America. To improve job growth, the President said the United States will continue to expand trade in open markets worldwide, invest to develop new technologies and products for dual use in defense and civilian markets, and invest in the education and skills of Americans so they are prepared to fill the jobs that are created.
