President Obama spoke to reporters and answered questions at a news conference in the White House briefing room. In his prepared remarks he “condemned” violence and suppression of peaceful protests in Iran, and called on Congress to pass health care reform and clean energy legislation. He said he was “appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings, and imprisonments” in Iran. Questions focused on U.S. response to the situation in Iran, health care, and the economy. close
