He spoke briefly about the United Nations cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon and international efforts to form a peace keeping force in the region. He also answered questions on a number of topics including operations in Iraq, efforts to combat terrorism, and national security policy. In his remarks he cast the war in Iraq as part of a broader struggle against Islamic extremism that held serious implications for the security of the United States.
