Economists and congressional committee staffers spoke in a forum to advocate or condemn the President Bill Clinton economic stimulus plan, which is intended to spur the growth of the U.S. economy through investment in the U.S. infrastructure and job growth. Issues raised in the forum included the effect of the federal spending on the deficit and debate over the outcome of the federal investment. Following their prepared remarks, the speakers responded to questions from members of the audience. close
