Participants briefed reporters on the group’s recommendations concerning procedures regarding release of information about the president’s health condition and the 25th amendment. The recommendations include that each administration have a contingency plan before the inauguration and that the president’s doctor be authorized to determine whether the president is too incapacitated to exercise his authority. They also commented on how some of these procedures would have been useful in past situations. Historical events mentioned were President Woodrow Wilson’s stroke and President Reagans injuries after his assassination attempt. The volunteers have been meeting for the past three days to work on the final draft of the recommendations. close
